Terms of use
The terms on which this site is published: what the written accounts are, what the episodes are, who owns them, and what may be quoted or reused.
In force from
01The publisher
This site is published by The Invisible Council, which does not disclose the identity of the people behind it.
02What is published here
The written accounts on this site are editorial work compiled from published sources, which are cited on each page. They are offered as a careful reading of a historical figure, not as an authority to be relied upon in place of scholarship.
The episodes are generated video. The faces, the voices and the room are synthesised, and the site states this plainly rather than implying a documentary record. No counsellor speaks a line drawn verbatim from a copyrighted modern translation, and none is presented as having said, in life, what is said at this table.
Nothing here is advice - medical, psychological, legal or financial. The series promises no cure and diagnoses nothing.
03The sources are out of copyright
Every counsellor at this table has been dead for more than a century. The most recent death is Nietzsche's, in 1900; the earliest is the Buddha's, around 483 BCE. Their works passed into the public domain worldwide long ago, and postmortem personality rights, where a jurisdiction grants them at all, run out well short of that distance.
What follows in practice: the arguments, the ideas and the source texts this series works from carry no copyright. Where a passage is quoted it comes from a public-domain edition or is rendered afresh for this site. A modern translation is a new and protected work even where the text beneath it is free, and none is reproduced here.
Third-party material is a separate question and is treated as one. Any image, recording or text still in copyright appears only where its licence allows, and is credited where it appears.
The eleventh seat is the exception worth naming. When a living guest takes it, that guest is there by agreement, and what they bring to the table stays theirs.
04Intellectual property
The written accounts, the design, the mark, the generated imagery and the episodes are the property of The Invisible Council, except where a third-party work is credited.
Quotation for the purposes of review, teaching or news reporting is permitted under the applicable exceptions, with attribution and a link. Republication of an article in whole, or its use to train a model, requires written permission.
The mark and the name The Invisible Council may not be used to imply endorsement or partnership without a written agreement.
05Links out
This site links to YouTube and to third-party sources. Those destinations are not under the publisher's control and their content and policies are their own.
06Availability and liability
The site is offered as it is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by law, The Invisible Council is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud or anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
07Governing law
Nothing here removes a protection that the law of a visitor’s country of residence gives them and does not allow to be set aside by agreement.
